About

Welcome to Snake Radar, a website devoted to gathering as much information about the 4000 (and growing) snake species on Earth as possible. On this website you will find information about species as diverse as 6 metre reticulated pythons, 20cm blind snakes, snake-eating king cobras, and snail-eating slug snakes. You will find information about neurotoxic black mambas, docile rubber boas, fast-moving whipsnakes, and surprisingly maternal and caring rattlesnakes. You will find information about the icons of the snake world, ranging from the boa constrictor to the British adder, and hundreds of more obscure snakes alike.

The goal is to accumulate as much information as possible, whether it’s scientific, technical information, or anecdotal, first hand stories from people on the ground. Comments are welcome from anybody in any location, whether it’s someone living next to to a copperhead hotspot in Kentucky, or a humid jungle in Thailand.

Comments are not just welcome on this website, but strongly encouraged. No piece of snake information is too obscure or uncorroborated to be posted as a comment, even if the person’s sighting may have been misinterpreted slightly.

Whether you have seen a copperhead leaping at someone from a tree branch, a cottonmouth pursuing someone (an old folklore tale), or a 10 adders slithering through the British countryside at once, we want to hear your stories. The same applies to experienced reptile keepers and herpetologists with more detailed and technical experience.
